Do you ever wonder if there is more to life than just surviving? Are you tired of just existing? Are you looking for purpose in life?
If your answer to the above questions is yes, then do we have some good news for you! Jesus Christ came lived, died and was resurrected so that you could have life abundantly! (see John 10:10) That abundant life comes through a relationship with God that was made available through the death and resurrection of Jesus. (For more info on who Jesus was and is see our "What We Believe Page) Below is an explanation of what we call the "Plan of Salvation". It is taken from the book of Romans in the Bible. Many call this "The Roman Road". As you read the verses and think about the implications of each verse for your life ask God to show you the truth.
The Bible says we are all sinners by nature and by choice: Romans 3:23 -- 23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (HCSB) The Bible says that because of our sin we deserve death but God offers to give us eternal life in Jesus Christ: Romans 6:23 -- 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (HCSB) The Bible says that God has proven His love for us: Romans 5:8 -- 8 But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us! (HCSB) Just knowing these things is not enough. We must move beyond just knowing about our sinfulness and God's offer of eternal life through Jesus to trusting, placing our faith in what the Bible says: Romans 10:9-10 -- 9 if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 With the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation. (HCSB) You can confess and believe right now through the following heartfelt prayer. Remember this is not some magical prayer. You must truly mean what you say and have a strong desire to follow Jesus. If you are serious about following Jesus and having your sins forgiven and receiving eternal life simply speak to God right now through this little prayer: "Dear God, I know I'm a sinner and my sin deserves death. I believe Jesus Christ is truly the Son of God, who had no sin. I know He died for my sin and rose again to life. By faith He can free me to have and live out His righteousness. I want to abandon my sin. Help me to trust Christ alone for liberty from sin, and eternal life with You. Thank You for Your forgiveness and the living hope I can now have through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen." If you just prayed that prayer or words similar to it, the Bible tells us that you are now saved from your sin - you are now a born again Christian! Romans 10:13 -- 13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (HCSB) Now real life has begun for you! There are 3 things you need to do now: 1. If you are not already plugged into a Bible believing church, you need to find one ASAP. If you live in the Nowata area, we would love to have you check out our church family. Wherever you are, it is vitally important that you get connected with a family of believers who will teach you and encourage you in your new life with Jesus. 2. You need to follow the Lord in baptism. This is a way for you to show the world that Christ has made you a new person (see 2 Corinthians 5:17 and Romans 6:1-4). 3. Begin reading God's Word, the Bible every day. This is so vitally important! We would suggest that you begin reading in the New Testament book of John. (The Bible is presented in 2 "Testaments" - the Old and New. Basically, the Old Testament shows what was going on before Jesus was born and the New Testament is the story of Jesus' time on earth and the beginning of the church (those who placed their faith in Jesus). Please use our contact us page to let us know if you prayed and if you have any questions. We would love to be of assistance in any way we could. May God bless you in your new life with Him!
